Granted that when you come to a ramen place you order ramen but I was not in the ramen mood today. I was more in the crispy mood.
I read that this place serves the Crispy Chicken Bowl which has got great reviews. So that was what I wanted.
As I entered the quaint and stylish establishment, jazz can be heard playing in the background. Courteous staff usher me to the bar where I made my order.
It wasn't long before my Crispy Chicken Bowl came in. Good thing I ordered small! There was plenty for one person.
I enjoyed the lightly battered but crispy chicken with some Japanese Mayo on the side which has a lovely tartness.
Washing it down with green ice tea I was properly fueled up for the rest of my day in Little Tokyo.
Definitely recommended! -

Okay so to be fair, this was my only experience ever trying legitimate ramen, so I have nothing to compare the food too. However, for a first experience it couldn't have gone better.
I got the Garnet (vegan- just because I preferred how it came with the substitutions) and it was AMAZING. Halfway through the bowl I added some chili sauce to it because I wanted it to have a bit more flavor, but that was just my personal preference.
We also got an order of Spicy Beef Gyoza to share and that was super tasty, definitely not what I'd consider spicy though.
I wish I didn't live so far or I'd definitely be back. Have yet to find a ramen shop in my town that I think might compare. -

Ramen sounded perfect for this weather and Little Tokyo was the first place that popped in mind. Since we decided to pick a spot when we got there, we walked down the street and placed our name down for 3 different ramen places and when we got to the last one I knew I wanted to try it after stepping inside so we stayed and this was Rakkan Ramen.
The spicy garnet (miso) was sooo yummy no other place can make something comparable to a ramen spot I love in the Bay Area but I think I found it. Their noodles were just the right texture and I'm very picky with noodles! The heart of any good bowl of ramen its soup and they sure know what this means. The soup base had a little kick and not too rich you can taste quality but what I love the most is that their soups come out hot which is something I super appreciate! Everything in the bowl was perfect - it came with a soil boiled egg, their braised pork belly was soft and tender yet slightly pan-seared and it comes with marinated bamboo shoots my favorite!!
We also got a side order of takoyaki and it's by far the best I've ever had & every bite was enjoyed. It was crispy on the outside, creamy and soft on the inside and they drizzle the sauce on the takoyaki and a bit on the plate so you could dip if you wanted a little more.
The ambiance was warm and intimate. Service is on point. Friendly smiles also attentive. Highly recommend! -

Service: welcoming right when i walked in the door. Got all the ice green tea free refills without asking. Cant ask for anything better.
Ramen: one of the best tasting broth I've tasted. Who would have known all of their broth is vegetarian. Their sesame chili sauce only enhances the experiences but highly recommend you taste it without adding anything first. Noodles were standard.
Verdict: Honestly I might even have to say this place is better than daikokuya and I don't mess around with ramen. -

This restaurant is located on the street of the famous Little Tokyo in LA. It's small quaint spot and could get busy depending on the time and day of the week.
We tried their Spicy Garnet Ramen which was really good! They have vegan options which are awesome for any of your plant based diet friends or family. They have a lunch deal where you can get any of the Ramen for only $11. Regular priced ramen comes from $15.50- $16.50.
Also, we had the Crispy Chicken bowl, which was also really good and the Spicy Beef Gyoza which really was not that spicy! Overall, it was a great experience! This was our favorite Little Tokyo ramen spot and we will definitely visit in the future!
